datUM allows researchers to send records to the University of Manitoba Libraries securely over the internet. For small record transfers, this is the preferred method of sending research data to the Libraries for review, troubleshooting or consultation requests.

Maximum Transfer Size

Transfers sent through the datUM are subject to the maximum transfer size. You may upload a maximum of 40 files, and at most 256MiB of files. Any one file may not exceed 64 MiB. If you would like to transfer more than this amount, please split your transfer into multiple parts, and assign your transfers to a group when prompted to link multiple transfers together.

Accepted File Types

The following are the types of files that donors can transfer using this application:

  • Archive files: zip

  • Audio files: acc, flac, m4a, mp3, off, wav, wma

  • Document files: doc, docx, html, odt, pdf, rtf, txt

  • Image files: gif, jpg, png

  • Presentation files: pps, ppsx, ppt, pptx

  • Spreadsheet files: csv, xls, xlsx

  • Video files: avi, mkv, mov, mp4, mpg, wmv
